Xer Technologies reported September 30 that its X8 PRO hybrid electric drone completed maritime missions at the REPMUS 2026 exercise near Portugal, including counter drone and mine detection roles. Source: Xer Technologies.

What was demonstrated
The company says its team operated alongside military participants for about a month and shared aircraft position and mission data through the exercise command structure. Those interoperability details matter because a drone's sensor output is most useful when other units can act on it promptly.
The maritime challenge
Coastal operations expose small aircraft to wind, salt and shifting launch sites. Mine detection and counter drone support also require different payloads and mission procedures. Xer cites a payload capacity of up to 10 kilograms, but the public release does not provide independent detection accuracy or sortie availability figures.
What the exercise proves
A multinational exercise can demonstrate integration and operator workflow under realistic constraints. It does not by itself establish fleet readiness or procurement. The next evidence would be measured detection results, maintenance data and follow-on orders.
