Firefly Aerospace said on October 8 that its SciTec unit received a $1.5 million extension to add counter-UAS sensor feeds to an Air Force command-and-control data system. Source: Firefly Aerospace.

The integration step
The expansion brings the reported total contract value to $31 million. SciTec plans to connect additional approved sensor sources to its existing data-fusion platform, giving operators a fuller shared picture of low-altitude threats.
Why fusion matters
Radar, radio-frequency and optical sensors can each see different aspects of a small drone. A command system that correlates tracks may reduce duplicate alerts and improve decisions, but its value depends on latency, identification quality and how operators use the information.
Limits of the announcement
The company did not disclose the new sensor types, deployment schedule or measured detection improvement. A contract extension supports integration work; independent operational results will be needed to judge effectiveness.
